Senior Instrument & Controls Engineer is accountable for the adequacy of calculations, engineering drawings, and specifications for a project and compliance with schedule and budget.
Responsibilities:
Maintain solid knowledge of digital and analog control systems for regulatory and supervisory process control design, development of control philosophy, and coordination of work between other disciplines and instrumentation departments
Prepare workhour (engineering) estimates, installed cost estimates, budgeting, scheduling, controlling and reporting instrument and control design progress to ensure efficient and timely execution of the project
Coordinate with Client on instrument specifications and control philosophy issues related to the development of P&ID diagrams, control systems design, and wiring of distributed control systems and programmable controllers
Supervise engineering and design team members assigned to projects, manpower-planning, and scheduling of engineering activities
Provide technical guidance and quality check on design team's output, as a working engineering and design discipline leader
Liaise with plant and construction team members for on-going domestic and international projects
Coordinate with local authorities for the compliance with local rules/regulations and permit approvals
Qualifications:
Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering related to Instrumentation and Control Systems (ABET accredited)
10 or more years of experience in front-end and detailed engineering design of heavy industrial plants
Professional Engineering (PE) required with established NCEES record for obtaining licensure in additional states
Field work experience
Extensive background in the design of instrumentation and control systems for chemical, refining, petrochemical and specialty chemical plants, including preparing instrument specs, loop sheets, wiring diagrams, etc.
Solid background in Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Distributed Control Systems (DCS) systems such as Allen Bradley, Emerson-Delta V, Yokogawa, Honeywell, etc., including Control systems design, preparing architectural network diagrams, and control equipment specifications
Experience with detailed Design, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (PID) development, instrumentation and control equipment specifications, datasheets
Knowledge of ISA, NFPA, API, ASME, OSHA and other relevant industry codes and standards with respect to design requirements
Proficient with technical software applications, including MS Office and Google Workspace
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written
Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment
Willingness to travel to job sites, as needed
