Position Overview:

This position is for a Quality Engineer who will, in addition to performance of basic engineering design, support the project engineering team to ensure overall inter-discipline coordination and quality of deliverables associated with this DOD / USAF project. The position will be based to Quality Engineering and will include maintenance of project engineering procedures and involvement with the project quality and corrective action programs.

The successful candidate must have strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills, the ability to work independently, proven problem-solving abilities, a can-do attitude and demonstrated flexibility. This role will specifically support the USAF Sentinel (GBSD) program Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase.

Responsibilities:

Performs overall engineering design and engineering tasks, within a discipline, having some degree of complexity
Participates in reviewing and checking designs, drawings, and data originated by other engineers or by suppliers
Reviews multi-discipline engineering deliverables to ensure cohesiveness, coordination, and quality
Coordinates quality reviews of deliverable packages prior to submission to the customer
Obtains inputs and technical information from senior engineers across multiple disciplines for use in completing tasks
Develops and maintains project engineering procedures to ensure alignment with company NS&E GBU and corporate procedures, contract requirements, and applicable codes and standards
Performs self-assessments of the engineering department on adherence to the procedures.
Develops and presents training on procedures, miscellaneous policies, and instructions for engineering personnel
Identifies, prepares, and reports project engineering quality metrics and associated trends
Prepares and issues engineering quality reports Presents quality reports to company Management and customer personnel
Participates in project quality surveillances and audits Coordinates Closed-Loop Corrective Action (CLCA) program project initiatives with project engineering personnel
Attends Condition Report Review Committee (CRRC) meetings as the engineering point of contact
Promotes Condition Reporting and Lessons Learned programs, available in the DevonWay (or similar) application
Monitors timely closure of engineering condition reports and associated actions
Communicates quality issues to the engineering team in the form of positive feedback and lessons learned
Coordinates with engineering disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team
Coordinates with client representatives, as required
Leads small engineering task group(s), as required
Analyze processes and identify areas which can be improved
Maintain configuration management
Communicate changes to processes with the relevant engineers
Work as a part of a team to develop/optimize processes and procedures to meet the needs of the customer and ensure good quality

Qualifications and Skills
Basic Qualifications:

BS degree in a related engineering field from an accredited university and 3 years of related experience or, in lieu of degree, 9 years related experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

U.S. Citizenship is required
Must be able to obtain a DoD Security Clearance.
Prior experience in engineering for construction projects
Experience with quality assurance programs, such as ISO-9001D
Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Candidate must have strong organizational skills
Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft 365 application suite (e.G., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in procedure and/or instruction review and analysis
Experience working with government agencies, preferably the Department of Defense (DoD)
Familiarity with company Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), Engineering Department Procedure Instructions (EDPIs), design standards and guides, and Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
Knowledge of codes and standards pertinent to quality engineering
Experience in presentation of training material
Current (Not Expired) Professional Engineer’s License
