Job Description
Primary Purpose of this Job
A successful Program Manager will have intimate knowledge of the process and lead process improvement efforts using both lean and quality tools. In addition, this position will support the transition of new processes and products into the existing production line when necessary. This is a dynamic position that requires most of your time spent interacting with the customer, product, operators, and management to achieve the production and schedule goals of the customer.
Responsibilities
- The responsibility of the Program Manager is to maintain a continuous and controlled operation to produce a given product. You will coordinate programs and cross-functional teams to address complex aerospace and defense challenges. The Program Manager will guide multidisciplinary teams in developing integrated hardware solutions, unique materials, and machining technology. Team sizes range from 5-25+ people, and program timelines range from 6 months to several years. Internally, you will lead teams through an Agile development process, maintain schedules and budgets, and provide overall direction for the successful completion of programs. Externally, you will work with customers on technical requirements, help bring the customer's vision to reality, build, and maintain customer relationships, and work closely with our internal manufacturing, suppliers, and leadership teams.
- Support Manufacturing Line
- Continuous Process Improvement (including Lean Manufacturing Concepts)
- Define Critical Mechanical Inputs
- Develop, execute, and analyze DOEs
- Ensure Productive Maintenance is completed per defined procedures
- Responsible for Overseeing Defect Analysis (directing Technicians) and directing response and/or corrective actions in the work center for MRT’s
- Process Training (including training operators for all process-related changes and standardization of all operations
- Must develop teams and lead/participate in said teams to accomplish process improvements
Basic Qualifications
- Must be versed in Statistical Analysis (SPC)
- 4 Year Engineering Degree (Mechanical Eng., Chemical Eng., Plastics Eng., etc)
- Knowledge of Lean Tools
- 6 Sigma Awareness
- Must be able to work well in a team environment.
- (Optional) Knowledge and understanding of PLC codes/Ladder Logic
- (Optional) Knowledge and understanding of Robotics Language
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Candidates that have technical breadth across engineering disciplines, especially aerospace/defense-related disciplines, and can manage technical teams internally while interfacing with external customers will thrive in this role. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of successfully leading programs with a strong background in R&D programs as well as production and manufacturing. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
- US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED and the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
- Experience managing hardware, software, complex electromechanical, robotics, or autonomous vehicle programs.
- Expertise in Agile development processes and tools.
- Demonstrated performance in managing program budgets and schedules to successful program conclusion.
- Proven record interfacing with customers and developing external relationships.
- Experience working with Contract Manufacturers, suppliers, or other outside vendors.
- Experience with proposal writing and costing.
- MS (preferred) or degree in engineering or equivalent discipline. At least 3 years in program management is required.
