IT Support Specialist (Local Candidates to MA only)
Job Summary:
Looking for an IT support specialist with expertise in both Windows and Mac systems. The support specialist will be responsible for providing comprehensive technical support to end-users, maintaining IT infrastructure, assisting with hardware and software issues on both platforms, assisting with user management, providing network support, and supporting phone systems. This role is primarily intended to provide onsite technical support for our customers in the North Central Mass area but will also require occasional travel to different locations outside the area.
Key Responsibilities:
Onsite Support: Provide hands-on technical support to end-users for Windows and Mac systems, including hardware and software troubleshooting, setup, and configuration.
Platform Expertise: Possess in-depth knowledge of both Windows and macOS operating systems, applications, and their respective ecosystems.
Hardware Maintenance: Perform maintenance, upgrades, and repairs for desktops, laptops, printers, and other IT equipment on both Windows and Mac platforms.
Software Management: Install, configure, and update software applications, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance on both Windows and Mac systems.
Travel Support: Occasional travel to different organizational locations or client sites to provide onsite technical support, troubleshoot issues, and set up IT equipment as needed.
User Training: Conduct training sessions to educate end-users on the effective use of IT resources and create user guides or documentation for both Windows and Mac environments.
Network Assistance: Assist in maintaining the local area network (LAN), troubleshoot network connectivity issues, and participate in network infrastructure projects.
Security Compliance: Ensure compliance with IT security policies for both Windows and Mac systems, implement security measures, and keep systems up to date with security patches.
Inventory Management: Maintain an accurate inventory of IT assets, track hardware and software licenses for both platforms, and recommend procurement or disposal of equipment when necessary.
Problem Resolution: Analyze and resolve technical issues efficiently, escalating complex problems to senior IT staff, and following up with users to ensure resolution satisfaction.
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of all IT-related activities, including support requests, hardware, and software configurations, and troubleshooting procedures for both Windows and Mac environments.
Collaboration: Collaborate with the IT team to plan and execute IT projects, such as system upgrades, server installations, and network enhancements that involve both Windows and Mac systems.
Qualifications:
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
High school diploma or equivalent;relevant technical certifications or a degree in information technology is a plus.
Proven experience as an onsite IT technician with expertise in both Windows and Mac environments.
Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and software issues on both platforms.
Familiarity with Windows and macOS operating systems, applications, and software deployment tools.
Basic knowledge of networking concepts and protocols.
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Ability to lift and move IT equipment up to 75lbs as needed.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel to different locations.
