Summary/Objective:

Apply knowledge of automation controls principles to collaborate with peers in the design and troubleshooting of products, automation systems, robotics and controls systems.

 

Essential Functions:

(This description is not all inclusive, other duties may be assigned):

·        Troubleshoot and repair equipment, using available resources and knowledge to resolve problems.

·        Recommend changes such as new equipment or modified procedures to improve performance and customer satisfaction.

·        Conduct detailed inventories and inspections to determine necessary maintenance and repairs.

·        Assist in planning and coordinating team efforts.

·        Often work non-standard schedules at field locations with exposure to varying environmental conditions.

·        Specify system components or products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.

·        Write, modify and debug PLC code on existing machines.

·        Write, modify and debug various motion control programs.

·        Write, modify and debug robot programming (ABB, Mitsubishi, Fanuc, Epson, and/or Universal Robotics).

·        Train and support Field Service Engineers and Field Service Technicians

·        Adhere to all workplace safety laws, regulations, standards, and practices.

·        Provide feedback and recommendations to improve automation products.

·        Assists in enhancing Automation capabilities by continued research into industry standards and best practices.

·        Provide a communication link to Senior Engineering, Marketing/Sales and Field Service departments concerning customers and commercial equipment.

·        Assist manufacturing and purchasing departments in the selection and/or substitutes for new and obsolescent parts with equivalent parts.

·        Support field personnel with the troubleshooting of equipment and installation of new products

·        Assist in the investigation and evaluation of product improvement suggestions

·        Submit verbal and written reports of activities and recommendations to supervisor

·        Perform other related duties as required or directed
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops;reviewing professional publications;establishing personal networks;participating in professional societies.

·        Adhere to all workplace safety laws, regulations, standards, and practices.

Required Education and Experience:


·        BA/BS degree in engineering or related discipline (BSEE degree preferred)

·        5+ years of experience in the automation industry

·        Programming Logic Controllers (PLC) (e.G. Allen-Bradley, Siemens)

·        Configuring and designing HMI/OIT systems (e.G. Allen Bradley, National Instruments, Maple

·        Systems)

·        Familiar with Industry Standards UL and CE

·        Familiar with Vision Systems (e.G. Cognex, Keyence)

·        Familiar with various Motion Controllers/Actuators (e.G. IAI, Yasakawa)

·        Experience and skill in troubleshooting control system issues

·        Experience with machine vision systems to include specifying camera, lenses, lighting solutions and vision tool programming

·        Troubleshooting and maintaining hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components.

·        Familiarity with Solid Works or equivalent 3D design software.

·        Proven track record in engineering leadership and experience in the development and implementation of standard engineering practices and GMP.

 

·        Participant in the development and/or implementation of any process or standard including ISO, LEAN, JIT, NFPA.
