Cash Applications Specialist
We are seeking a detail-oriented Cash Applications Specialist to join our cohesive team within our Treasury Department.
We are a leading provider of payroll funding and back office services to the staffing industry, this position is vital in supporting the day-to-day processes and initiatives related to cash applications, cash reporting, and research & issue resolution for our clients. Primary role will be collecting the mail from the PO Box in Portsmouth and processing our check deposits.
This full-time, in-office position offers a M-F schedule of 8: 30am-5: 00pm in our Portsmouth office and will report to the Cash Applications Supervisor. If you are resourceful and accustomed to working in a fast paced, high energy, high volume environment, this may be your perfect opportunity.
Responsibilities:
· Verify remittance amounts and details
· Identify and flag unapplied cash to appropriate customers
· Quickly and accurately apply cash receipts to customer accounts via data entry per remittance detail
· Post credit card payments, wire transfers and ACH credits
· Research unapplied credit memos, short paid invoices and other reconciliation items and clear as necessary
· Research accounts for refund and submit requests to AP for check processing
· Deposit checks to appropriate banks
· Monitor and review the Cash Receipts mailbox
· Assist Billing & Collections with customer inquiries related to payments
· Assist with audit requests
· Other clerical and accounting duties as needed
Requirements:
· Proficiency with Adobe & Microsoft Office required (Outlook & Excel).
o Interview will include competency test requiring use of intermediate tasks within Excel
· High School Diploma or equivalent and 2+ years cash application or related experience
· Highly accurate and quick data entry skills and proficiency with 10 key calculator
· Experience with multi-company and high volume processing a must
· Strong attention to detail and organization skills;must have excellent record keeping skills
· Ability to establish and maintain effective internal working relationships
· Must be capable of dealing with difficult service/customer situations
· Excellent organization and problem solving skills
· Basic knowledge of general accounting practices
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Able to work overtime as necessary (minimal)
