CMM Programmer II - 1st. Shift
Job Description
Position Summary:
Provide CMM programming and quality control support and expertise in support of daily production and operational needs.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
*Create, develop, edit, and implement new CMM programs on more complex part applications using Zeiss Calypso software from 3D solid-models and 2D drawings
*Audit, implement and revise programs as needed for continuous improvement
*Work closely with CNC programming and engineering when perform FA’s inspection to maintain best practices and achieve better results
*Maintain and order all necessary equipment for CMM stylus system, fixtures and any necessary equipment with the approval of manager
*Serve as a mentor for lower level CMM programmers, provide training and solve more complex issues, critical thinking in problem solving
*Work with quality engineering with any and all R&R studies ensuring the data collection and program efficiency along with program accuracy
*Develop best practice and a lean process as a continuous CMM program improvement, for example. Naming convention, file network allocation and shop auto run set up
*Continuously evaluate personnel to have programmers trained on standby to eliminate a single point failure
*Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. “PPE”Personal Protective Equipment is a requirement and must be used and followed per company policies and procedures
*Must be able to travel to different offsite locations to provide support, training and programming as needed or required by manager
*Ability to continuously improve and learn new software and different equipment
Education and/or Experience:
- *Minimum 5-10 plus years’experience as a CMM Programmer using Zeiss Calypso software with 5-10 years’experience as a Quality inspector
- *GD&T certification is required
- *ASQ Certification Highly preferred but not required
- *Aukom training is highly desired but not required
- *High School or GED Diploma required
- *Zeiss Basic and Advance Certification required
- *GD&T ASME Y14.5-2009 required
- *Blue print reading highly desired
- *Technical college or secondary training in a quality discipline preferred
Skill Level:
*Can effectively program, set-up, and prove out with minimal supervision Zeiss articulating and fixed head coordinate measurement machines
*Ability to perform surface plate layout work to verify cmm measurements using conventional measurement equipment (micro-height, comparator, sine plates, height stands, etc.)
*Ability to read and interpret technical drawings per ASME Y14.5M-2009 specifications
*Effective communication skills, and the ability to work with others in a team environment
*Familiarity with Sig Sigma problem solving and quality fundamentals
Working Conditions:
*Able to lift up to 25 pounds
*Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which is required in designated areas.
