Job Description


Position Summary:
We are looking for a skilled Blade Fabrication Operator to produce components from metal and non-metal materials according to blueprints, sketches, and work instructions. The ideal candidate will operate a variety of fabrication equipment and assist in doctor blade production and assembly, ensuring consistent product quality and adherence to specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, adjust, and operate various fabrication equipment such as shears, drill presses, punch presses, bevel grinders, skivers, and Hatchett grinders.

  • Follow blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to fabricate and assemble doctor blades and other components.

  • Perform operations including cutting stock to length, flattening, punching, blanking, perforating, tapping, ripping to width, contour routing, and basic assembly.

  • Pull coil stock as required for production orders.

  • Conduct in-process quality checks and take ownership of work accuracy and compliance with specifications.

  • Perform routine machine maintenance and report any equipment issues.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

  • Adhere to all safety procedures, quality standards, and company policies.

  • Participate in team efforts to meet production and organizational goals.

  • Work overtime as needed.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on manufacturing experience, preferably in fabrication and assembly environments.

  • Experience handling and lifting irregularly shaped objects using appropriate tools such as cranes or power lifts.

Knowledge & Skills:

 

  • Strong understanding of basic shop math and fabrication practices.

  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and production drawings.

  • Proficiency using precision measuring tools, including tape measures, micrometers, and Vernier calipers.

  • Ability to maintain tolerances and dimensional accuracy in fabrication work.

  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.

  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.

  • Basic computer proficiency for data entry or job tracking.
