Seeking an AREA MANAGER based in San Antonio, TX, to work with a great national team in a fast-paced collaborative environment. This position will also serve the Grand Rapids, MI territory which will necessitate occasional travel to the region. This position offers great potential for your career growth and advancement. JOB TYPE: FULL-TIME
SALARY RANGE: $65, 000 - $75, 000/YEAR DOE + Bonus

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Core duties and responsibilities include the following, plus other duties that may be assigned:

Coordinate transportation, routing, customer interaction, and dispatching in accordance with policies, principles and procedures established by the Regional and National Operations Manager.

Confer with customers and representatives of associated industries to evaluate and promote improved and expanded services in the area.

Develop plans for efficient use of resources.
-
Review costs and improve profitability in the markets.
-
Review operations and implement improvements.
-
Utilize logistics IT programs to optimize procedures.
-
Solicit bids from vendors and work directly with Regional Manager for contract negotiations.
-
Plan and track the shipment of final products according to customer requirements.
-
Keep logs and records for all customer related, services.
-
Prepare accurate reports for management.
-
Read production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, and requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Supervise employees in the given area and ensure they are sufficiently staffed and trained.
-
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies and applicable laws.
-
Responsibilities include: Interviewing, hiring, and training employees;planning, assigning and directing a team;appraising performances;addressing complaints and resolving problems;following protocol for interactions with vendors.

Full profit and loss responsibility.

EDUCATION
-
High School diploma or equivalent
-
Associate degree preferred.
-
EXPERIENCE
-
5 –10 years of logistics experience is required.
-
Management experience is required.
-
5+ years' experience in the transportation industry.
-
Skills in navigating the Internet, proficiency in MS Office, CRM Software and Outlook email.
-
Excellent written and verbal skills.
-
An understanding of HIPPA rules and regulations is a plus.
